The film begins with Mrs. Brisby, a widowed mouse, living with her four children in a cozy home in a farmer's field. However, their peaceful existence is threatened when the farmer decides to plow the field, putting Mrs. Brisby's family in danger. Mrs. Brisby seeks help from the wise and mysterious Mr. Ages, an old and wise mouse, who advises her to move her family before the plowing begins.
