The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is a 2015 animated film that serves as a pilot for the television series The Lion Guard. It is a sequel to the original 1994 film, The Lion King, and is set in the same African savannah.

The story begins with Kion, the son of Simba and Nala, and his friends Bunga, Fuli, Beshte, and Ono. They are all part of the Lion Guard, a group of animals chosen by the Lion King to protect the Pride Lands and maintain the Circle of Life.

Kion, unlike his older sister Kiara, has a unique power called the "Roar of the Elders." It allows him to summon the spirits of the past Lion Kings to help in times of need. However, Kion is unsure of how to control this power and fears that he may not be worthy of leading the Lion Guard.

Meanwhile, Scar's loyal followers, Janja and his hyena pack, plot to take over the Pride Lands, knowing that Simba is now older and less able to defend his kingdom. They plan to use Kion's insecurities and the chaos caused by the Lion Guard's absence to their advantage.

As the Lion Guard faces their first major challenge, Kion must learn to trust in himself and his friends. With the guidance of his wise grandfather, Mufasa, Kion discovers that the Roar is a gift meant to protect and not destroy.

In a thrilling climax, Kion and the Lion Guard face off against Janja and his hyenas, using their individual strengths and working together as a team. With courage and determination, they defeat the hyenas and restore peace to the Pride Lands.
